All you have to do for "patching" is extract the folder from the rar into the game folder and use the launcher inside there. Not sure if MU link is patched.

Even if it's not patched already all you have to do is drag and drop a folder. All that is left is the unicode settings.

Go to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>Advanced>Language for non-unicode programs and change it to Japanese. Apply, restart computer and voila.

Nope. Only Non-Unicode programs. I does change my Bluetooth program to Japanese though, but I don't use it anyways so it's no big deal. And a little language icon pops up on the bottom of the start menu toolbar.

It's confusing because you are getting a lot of different directions. If you are downloading the MU one, it is already patched but you still need non unicode Jap settings.

Having your non unicode to Japanese leaves your computer 99% the same. It doesn't change the language for windows or any of the programs to Japanese. There's no harm in changing it and there's no harm in leaving it that way.

Changing your locale to Japanese isn't confusing at all. If you have Eastern Asian languages installed (like you should) then all you do is change this.

Downside to not having it changed: Windows doesn't know how to handle Japanese characters. It won't run any file with them and sometimes won't transfer them during installations
