To use someone else's metaphor, think of it like this:
Battler and Beatrice live next to each other as neighbors. One day, an unidentified killer breaks into Beatrice's house and forcefully uses it as their base of operations to kill Battler. Beatrice, in a terrible position, tries to hint to Battler what's going on and that they're both in danger, but Battler doesn't get it.
Ange comes in, looks at the situation, understands it, but decides that her top priority is keeping Battler safe. She decides Battler has a better chance of staying alive if she convinces him Beatrice is behind everything, and urges him to kill her and burn down the entire house.
